So yesterday I went out to the Queens Botanical Garden and got an Earth Machine composter. New York City runs a program that subsidizes the cost of these composters and the end price was $60. Normally it's around $100 so that's not a bad deal any way you cut it. For folks who are interested in this, each borough has their own composter available.
Pics below the break
The Composter, In Pieces.

The composter comes in two large peices, a lid, and a bag containing the door, manual, and dirt anchors.
The Composter, Assembled.
It was a little annoying getting the composter assembeled. The lady at the botanical gardens suggested lining up the arrows and then just hitting each snap-point. That worked for a few, but the whole things seemed a little out of round, or maybe it was that the bottom was slightly widier than the top.
Anyway, the method that finally worked was turning the whole beat upside down, lining each part up one at a time, and hitting the top.

This is a wide angle shot of the backyard. You can see darth composter to the left of my (now empty) quail pen.
Ye Olde Compost Pile - Aka "Carbon Dump"

The old compost pile really ended up being a carbon dump. The bunnies use a lot of pine pellets for litter and it's hard to get enough greenery to get the pile to compost properly. According to the lady and the garden, this is the opposite of what people usually have happen here in Queens. Go figure!
Retainer Screws
These are the retaining screws that hold the composter down. Pretty beefy, honestly.
