My dad had a dream: to have a small black walnut orchard for nuts and, eventually, lumber. Sadly, he passed before his walnut (or castle) dream came to pass, but he did instil a similar dream in me.

  • Provide space for 5 years of current archive (2 TB)
  • A shoot generates 5-15 GB of images
  • A shoot is about 40-50GB total after post production
  • Average 4 shoots a month, 200GB/Month
  • 2.4TB a year
  • Desire to keep everything
  • Needs to be able to grow over time
  • Photographer uses Macs
  • Has access to a basement for storage of archives away from main system. 
  • Linux Ok for server but must be simple to use.
